Wear your heart on your sleeve

Los Angeles, CA

Time to pull out your red lipstick and put on your flirtiest dress! It’s time for candy hearts, chocolates and chick flicks. Love notes and roses. It’s that time of year again—Valentine’s Day! And today’s V-Day inspired outfit is fun, casual and perfect for a day at the office. So whether you're going out on a romantic date or hitting the town with the girls I hope that your day is full of candy, treats, and lots of love.  As gimmicky as this holiday has become, I think the idea of setting aside time to let your loved ones know how much you care about them, is really pretty great.  XO!

February Flurries

Mammoth, CA

This morning I am chilly and oh so sleepy because it's Friday and it has been a crazy week at work. Between evening events and a new collection launch at my company, I haven't really had time to sleep (or blog!)  And since my family is snowed in back home in New England, I was inspired to throw up these pictures from my recent trip to Mammoth, Ca. I went on a trip with some girlfriends for New Years and we stayed in The Village, drank champagne and skied. It was relaxing, fun and even a bit active--just perfect.

I wore this pink maxi skirt that I picked up at Forever 21 and paired it with a cozy hat and scarf set that I was gifted for the holidays. The skirt is season-less and I'm sure you'll be seeing more of it on the blog in the future.

This is 30

Santa Monica, CA

Well, it’s official, I’m a 30 year old lady! And while I wasn't exuberant about the number at first, I have come around to embracing it. Do I feel like I'm exactly where I want to be in my life? No way! But I certainly feel like I am getting there. The truth is, I don't think I will ever feel like I am there. Life is a constant journey and I will never stop wanting more out of it.

My twenties were carefree and full of BIG dreams. I danced, I traveled, I slept a lot more than I do now. I had very little money and also a lot fewer concerns. But it wasn't all  fun and games...I dealt with major heartbreak, a shift in my career, I lived on a friends sofa for a summer and my dearest friend, my Mum, was diagnosed with cancer.

I guess my point is this: I used to look ahead with all these lofty goals and dreams for myself (and the people in my life) and now I've learned to let go a bit. There are simply too many things that are out of our hands. The only thing we can control is the kind of person we want to be while we are here. To be a kinder, better, braver, smarter person, that is all I can hope for my future.

So I guess, overall, while I do feel older, I certainly also feel luckier each year. It's such a privilege to be able to spend my ups and downs surrounded by a fantastic group of people that I love and cherish so dearly.
