Comfy

Los Angeles, CA

I’m heading back to work today after a whirlwind weekend away.  I sunbathed, attended a beautiful oceanside wedding, and spent my days indulging in seafood with friends and family. Needless to say, getting back to the office today has been a bit of a struggle. To ease my way into reality, I’ve decided to dress like I’m still on vacation with this fun, casual look.

I stumbled into these printed pants from H&M a few weeks ago. They were $10 and as cozy as pj’s so I, of course, grabbed them.  While this look here is very bold and casual, if styled with pumps and a nude blouse, you can easily pull off an outfit that’s well-suited for the office.  This ensemble is certainly a bit different for me and while I usually gravitate towards the classic, more polished pieces, every once in a while I like to let my hair down and try something new.

Weekend Ready

This week has been a wonderful blur.

I can’t believe it is already Friday. Between the cold, rainy LA weather we’ve been having and the boxes that have been consuming my world, I honestly can’t tell what day- or month it is!

I have a week before I move out of my mid-city space and MILES left to accomplish. That being said, my office is also in the process of migrating across town and so I am lucky if I can find my shoes these days!

Hence today’s easy, weekend-ready look. It blends my favorite classic colors and textures. You can never go wrong with denim. Today I wanted to go for a more relaxed, laid-back feel so I paired this adorable new button-up skirt from H&M with my go-to jean jacket. Pulling off the denim on denim trend is pretty easy when you choose pieces that are not the same wash or color. Try it out! I am a huge fan of this skirt because it’s incredibly versatile and the crisp white color is just perfect for summer.

Enjoy the weekend everyone! I hope it is filled with fun, sun and breezy, box-less days!

Labor Day Weekend.

August 30, 2014

While I don’t necessarily love the idea that Labor Day signifies the end of summer (I go into great detail about it in this post from last year), I cannot deny that the gorgeous weather and long-weekend festivities that usually coincide with this holiday are pretty great.  Instead of heading out of town like the rest of the city, I am soaking up the HOT California sun and enjoying what this place has to offer.  Catching up with friends, stopping by the beach, browsing around the local farmers markets and reading poolside are pretty high up on my to-do list this weekend. And hey! I may even try to catch up on some work.

I am such a big fan of this trapeze denim dress from TOPSHOP.  It is such a fun style and serves as a wonderful canvas for accessorizing.  I chose to dress it down today for some ocean side weekend activities with my Sperry seacoast canvas sneakers, beachy blue beaded necklaces from Old Navy, and a sun-shielding fedora from ASOS.  This dress has infinite options for accessorizing.  Dress it up with some booties and slicked back hair, or keep it Boho with a headband and some Birkenstocks.  Whatever you choose, make it your own!  That is what I love about dresses like this one, they give you the option to accessorize in so many different ways, which truly individualize the outfit!

Happy Labor Day weekend!
