TRENDS TO HELP YOU TRANSITION INTO FALL

Newburyport, MA

This time of year has always been a little tricky for me because it’s still hot outside (August is arguably the hottest month of the year) and yet, all my favorite fashion brands are in full-on fall mode. I’ve been gravitating towards adding jackets and booties to my online shopping cart and yet, it was almost 95 degrees outside the other day when I took these photos…not exactly sweater weather! My mum and I went out to pick up sandwiches at this little spot in Newburyport (the day we took these photos) and we were both sweating just by walking from the car to the shop.

So what am I wearing and shopping for right now? Transitional pieces. I am talking about all those items that you’ll be able to take from summer to fall (and beyond). And the number one thing I would recommend? Flowy dresses. They’re easy to wear bare-legged or with tights and in neutral colors/prints that work for any season.

This leopard printed number from Leela Lavender checks all the boxes. It is lightweight and flowy enough for warm days and works well with layers like a leather jacket or a cardigan. Take 15% anything you love at Leela Lavender with the code: KELLY15.

Some other transitional pieces to stock up on? Tops that make layering easy, jumpsuits that pair well with denim jackets and booties, lightweight jackets, and trousers.

OFFICE WEATHER

Santa Monica, CA

My office is always an icebox, and so despite the 70-ish degree temps we had here yesterday, I decided to wear a sweater to work. And to be honest, I was still cold! Is there anyone out there that is not constantly getting dominated by their office AC?

That being said, I have good news: I think I found the world’s coziest (yet still remarkably flattering) sweater! It’s from one of my favorite shops, Chicwish, and as an added bonus, it looks good with just about everything.

GOOD MORNING, SANTA MONICA!

Santa Monica, CA

IMG_7896.jpg

This morning, my roommate and I woke up early and took a stroll down on Main Street in Santa Monica. Lined with cafes, cute little coffee shops, and yoga studios, it’s a perfect stop en route to my office. And speaking of offices, I work dangerously close to the 3rd Street Promenade. If you’ve never visited, it’s located just blocks from the ocean and has everything from high-end fashion stores, to boutiques and local farmer’s market stands. Needless to say, I often have to take a longer way to get to my car after work in order to avoid a daily shopping spree. But yesterday, I decided to pop into Madewell (just to browse) and ended up leaving with a whole bag of new clothes. In fact, this top and skirt are both new purchases. I love this lace-back sweater tee and maxi skirt because both pieces are versatile and work well to transition into the cooler days to come.
