SHOW A LITTLE LOVE

Santa Monica, CA

IMG_3613_edit.jpg

Since my office has a pretty casual attire policy, and the weather has been too cold for dresses/shorts, I find myself living in jeans and tees lately. That being said, I’m always on the lookout to find ways to change things up. You know, so it doesn’t seem like I’m wearing the same thing every day (even if, in fact, I secretly am).

While I didn’t do anything all that original here today, these high-waisted jeans and LOVE tee from Anthropologie are a great place to start. Toss on a blazer, layer on some gold necklaces, toss up your hair and feature some bold earrings, or let your shoes be the standout. How cute are these PopJulia mules by the way? They’re actually under $40 and super comfortable. So much to love here!

SPRING LAYERS

Los Angeles, CA

1 (1).jpg

When it comes to layering must-haves, the duster is pretty high on my list. Right up there with moto jackets and trench coats, this below-the-knee topper is certainly not going anywhere, anytime soon. And from thick coats to silkier styles, there are literally hundreds of iterations to choose from.

I grabbed this airy little number from Anthropologie a month or so ago but I feel like it's finally the perfect time to wear it. I'm looking forward to warmer days when pairing it with a dress/skirt is actually doable but today I love how it's effortlessly elevating my jeans! I've linked more of my favorite (very affordable) dusters below so that you can spice up your basics with a new spring layer!

Transitional Must-Haves—No Matter the Coast

Los Angeles, CA

38.jpg

Depending on where you live, transitional dressing can be very different. Back in my hometown in New England, it often means that you could be dealing with snow one day and 70 degree weather another. While in LA, it's never really too cold or too hot during the transition from winter to spring.

So what is the cross-seasonal piece you need no matter where you live?

The trench coat. It's the perfect weight and length for transitional weather. I love it because it keeps you warm without being too heavy and it's great for layering. And depending on your climate, you can grab one that's warmer or lightweight.

I love to throw it on over a fitted dress for when it’s too chilly to wear alone, with a pair of cropped skinnies or with a printed skirt.

I went classic with the tan color but you can pretty much shop a trench in every shade under the rainbow. I love the idea of a pink version of this, don't you guys? Oh and this particular one is under $50!
