MAKING MOVES

Plum Island, Massachusetts

IMG_4633.jpg

Two weeks ago, my boyfriend and I moved from Los Angeles, CA to Newburyport, MA. We put lots of our things in storage, packed my car with all that we could, and shipped it across the country. We are staying in a charming furnished home out here and we feel really lucky to have found it. Edgar and I are both working remotely for the next few months or so, which has allowed us some time to live and explore somewhere new.

It’s a BIG change of scenery for us, but so far, it’s been incredibly refreshing. We’re enjoying the chillier nights, festive fall activities, and being closer to my family (I grew up in New Hampshire and all my family is in New England). Newburyport is really the MOST charming little town! It is right on the water with great seafood, cafes, and architecture. I barely drive at all (which is a great change from my traffic-filled days in LA) and the streets remind me of a small city in England mixed with the streets in Sony’s studio backlot. What I am getting at is that they are so picturesque sometimes they look fake!

All that being said, Edgar has never lived anywhere cold and it has been many years since I have, so we’re hopeful that we will survive. I guess we shall see! Stay tuned for more on our new place, our new neighborhood, and all things New England over the coming months.

We took these photos at Plum Island which is right down the road from us. We’re both wearing shoes from Rockport Shoes Fall Collection paired with easy outfits that transition well from summer to fall. Our favorite thing about the shoes? They’re comfy enough to keep up with all the walking we’re doing out here.

WELCOME Spring (Maxi Skirts)

Culver City, CA

IMG_8232.jpg

Ready for the grand calf-and-foot reveal? Spring is around the corner and that means it’s time to ease back into wearing skirts! And while most of the country is still nestled in coats and jackets, it’s time to set your shopping sights on sunnier days. That’s because all the best spring pieces are up for grabs now.

So, which skirts are shaping up to be this season's heroes? Bold prints and splashy colored styles are at the top of my list. In fact, this one from Anthropologie (they have SO many cute maxi skirts right now) is easily one of my favorites. I love that it lets me make a statement even when you pair it with the most simple tee-shirt!

It's (STILL) SKIRT SEASON

Hollywood, CA

IMG_1146.jpg

Well, all signs are pointing to it—it's time to make that seasonal wardrobe switch. Actually, according to Vogue, it's BEEN time. In most parts of the country, chilly weather is already here. And while it's still in the 70's in LA, this tip can be used no matter where you live. That's right, your slip dresses, your white jeans, your skirts—keep them out.

Focusing on skirts today, I love them for their versatility. They can be worn to dinner, the apple orchard, and even a day at the office. It's a must-have piece in your fall wardrobe rotation and while this one is a mini, midi and maxi's are great, too. Pair them with a cropped sweater or a classic button-down for a look that will wow all season long!
