FIND YOUR HAPPY

Newburyport, MA

More than ever, I need outlets to stay positive these days. It has undoubtedly been a challenging time for everyone and with more isolation and division in this country than I can ever remember, it is easy to get down. That being said, I realized that no matter how rough it gets, we will never get this time back. That is why I have decided to spend my summer back home in New England with my family. I have felt so lucky to have this time with them and so as hard as it can be, I am trying to remember that our time is precious and we need to go towards things that make us happy.

I wore this floral maxi dress from Vagamundo to lunch with my Mum the other day and it gave me so much LIFE! It is a beautiful blend of boho and classic style. It is also by far and away the most fun dress to twirl and dance in. A dress that is super comfy, yet really easy to dress up, too? I’ll take a few more! (It actually does come in a few more colors). And right now, you can take 15% off your entire Vagamundo purchase using code: KELLY15. Enjoy!

Here are some other things that are helping me (at least a little) stay positive right now:

  • Surround yourself with positive people that love you. If someone doesn’t make you feel happy, don’t spend your time with them. Find your people (even if it is just one or two right now) and keep them close.

  • Pick up a new hobby and commit to having one thing to show from it. Whether it is running )(for me!) and sharing your daily mile count with a friend, or learning to cook and making a meal for someone, using the extra time to pursue a new hobby can feel really rewarding.

  • Get active about the things you care about. With so many injustices going on in the world, it is important to find a way to get involved, even if it is simply sending out emails or donating to a cause. It will help you feel less helpless.

  • Play great music throughout the day. You’ll be surprised how much this can help boost your mood.

  • Get outside (with a mask)! Back in LA, I found myself feeling really sad inside my apartment all day so eventually, I forced myself to go on walks around the neighborhood 2-3 times a day. It really helped!

  • Do one kind thing every day. This can be sending an email or a message at work to let someone know you appreciate their help or letting a stranger go ahead of you at the grocery store. No matter how small it is, it will help you feel more positive.

ON THE SUNNY SIDE

Los Angeles, CA

Nothing says summer like a sundress. From body-con versions to off-the-shoulder styles, there are endless options to choose from. So many, in fact, that the selection can start to feel overwhelming. And when the weather heats up, there's nothing better than a piece that you can throw on—and go. You know, the kind that only requires a pair of sneakers or sandals and very little thought beyond that? Yup, I'll take one for every day of the week. But when it comes to choosing which ones to go with, it's all about wearability. I go for dresses I can wear from season to season. And this ruffle-hem dress is perfect for summer (no matter how the trends change from this year to next). If this one isn't really your style, don't fret I've selected more of my favorites from Goodnight Macaroon and linked them below!

MY TOP DRESS PICKS!

The sneakers that go with everything

Beverly Hills, CA

I don't ever remember wearing slip-ons and sneakers as much as I have this year. I'm not sure if it's because I now work at a tech company, or because they are trendy, or because they are just SO comfy, but either way, I am loving this new obsession. And these ones from Vionic are the sneaks that go with almost everything. You can honestly pair probably anything in your closet with them and the outfit would look perfect.

My favorite ways to wear them lately? With dresses, skirts and cropped skinnies. They add an unexpected edge to more feminine looks. I styled them here with one of my new spring dresses from Goodnight Macaroon. The floral embroidery and ruffled hem pair perfectly with these blush sneakers. It is truly one of the easiest (and comfiest) looks in my current wardrobe.
