FEELING FEMME

Mar Vista, CA

It finally feels like spring today! And my current mood is flowery. As much as I love to borrow from the boys—I’ll wear loafers and oversized jeans any day—it’s also nice to get in touch with my feminine side. I’m talking pink, mini-skirts, ruffles, lace and of course, floral prints.

To offset too much femininity, play with textures a bit. I wore this ruffled floral top that my sister got for me for my birthday (she has the best style) and paired it with a thicker, corduroy mini skirt.

Daydreamy

Emerald Isle Park

Last weekend I went to Emerald Isle Park with some friends. I brought along my camera with the hopes of capturing some content as we played. We lazily chatted and ate chocolate covered popcorn. It was a good day. The wind was in my hair. My worries out the window.  It was the kind of day that inspired twirling and an early afternoon detour to the Thirsty Crow Bar happy hour.

I wore this dreamy accordion pleated skirt, which easily dresses up or down, and a spring-ready floral tee. The entire look is under $100 and each piece is incredibly versatile. While my look here is quite whimsical, if paired with different pieces, you can achieve a totally different feel. Don’t worry I will bring this skirt back!

Life moves quick and fast. And I’ve been reminded recently to enjoy every moment, especially the good ones.

So today, as I sit with plenty of worries and far too many cares, I dream back to this day, with hopes that  a good happy hour is in my future!

In Bloom

August 19, 2015

Los Angeles, CA

Things are really heating up here in Los Angeles.  Already warm, it’s been especially steamy these past few days with sticky, 90 degree days and balmy nights. While it doesn’t exactly make for the most comfortable picnic weather, it’s perfect for an evening stroll or outdoor dinner date.

Last night I stepped out for cocktails in this airy floral dress.  With beautiful bell sleeves and a short, flowy design, this piece is really a summer dream.  Now I don’t know about you guys but somewhere it has been ingrained in my mind to think “daytime” when I see a flowery print.  Set aside only for brunches and lunch-dates, I used to think these pretty prints were not appropriate for evening territory.  Thankfully I’ve evolved. With addition of pumps and a structured jacket or sweater, your look can go from day-to-night in a snap. From whimsical watercolor prints to airy chiffons and crimson red blossoms, floral dresses come in an array of romantic options, all perfect for your next night out.

Check out more of my so-called daytime floral dresses at the end of this post!
