A Classic Valentine

Beachwood Canyon, Los Angeles

Valentine's Day is just one day away! And whether you're planning a night out on the town or a relaxing dinner with your special someone, it's safe to say that "date night attire" is required.

I have always been smitten with classics. I love Black and White Cinema, songs by Ella Fitzgerald and classic TV shows. I still dream of my tiny 20's-style apartment over on La Brea and I often gravitate towards vintage inspired clothing. There just seemed to be something so lovely, so simple, so utterly romantic about the past.  Thus, when I want to feel most special,  I go classic.

This bow tie dress is just perfect. It's from one of my favorite vintage-inspired shops, Ruche.

Happy Valentine's Day loves!

Summer Uniform

September 1, 2015

Santa Monica, CA

Summer is quickly coming to a close, but with the continuation of sky-high temps, a sudden wardrobe revamp would seem silly.  For this transitional time, I always like to keep things easy and stick to basic, cross-seasonal pieces. This bouncy trapeze dress is just that.  I snagged it a couple of weeks ago and I knew it would be perfect for both summer and fall.  Great for the office or an afternoon brunch with friends (which is where I wore it here) you can easily swap out my summery wedges and lace fedora for a brimmed hat and fall booties.  It’s the perfect canvas dress and I’ve been living in it the past couple of weeks. I just need to get my hands on a few more.  What’s your late-summer uniform? Check out more of my favorites at the end of this post.

In Bloom

August 19, 2015

Los Angeles, CA

Things are really heating up here in Los Angeles.  Already warm, it’s been especially steamy these past few days with sticky, 90 degree days and balmy nights. While it doesn’t exactly make for the most comfortable picnic weather, it’s perfect for an evening stroll or outdoor dinner date.

Last night I stepped out for cocktails in this airy floral dress.  With beautiful bell sleeves and a short, flowy design, this piece is really a summer dream.  Now I don’t know about you guys but somewhere it has been ingrained in my mind to think “daytime” when I see a flowery print.  Set aside only for brunches and lunch-dates, I used to think these pretty prints were not appropriate for evening territory.  Thankfully I’ve evolved. With addition of pumps and a structured jacket or sweater, your look can go from day-to-night in a snap. From whimsical watercolor prints to airy chiffons and crimson red blossoms, floral dresses come in an array of romantic options, all perfect for your next night out.

Check out more of my so-called daytime floral dresses at the end of this post!
