Sunday Style

New Hampshire

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. It seems that the moment the turkey is cooked, the trees go up and the jingle bell music starts to play. It’s all very exciting, isn’t it? And being here in New Hampshire, where the weather actually matches the season, it’s easy to swing right into the holiday spirit.

I have had a pretty relaxing weekend. Mostly, I spent time with friends and family.  I snuggled with my friend’s babies and had a few too many margaritas with my parents.  It hasn't been wild but it's been wonderful.

This outfit is brand new and insanely comfy.  I snagged most of it yesterday while shopping with my Mum and you can get all of the pieces on SALE today! The crossbody has been a go-to of mine lately. I used to always be a big bag lady, but a compact purse is essential and oh so chic.  The boyfriend plaid top is another cross-seasonal staple. Slouchy enough to tie like I have done here, it is also great for winter and summer layering.  I paired it with this soft ribbed maxi dress. I love it because it is comfortable yet flattering. It pairs great with boots, sneakers or wedges!

Wintry Mix

December 12, 2014

Los Angeles, CA.

These past few weeks have been a bit of a blur.  Cramming in as much as possible before the close of another year has caused my blogging to take a bit of a backseat and so for that, I apologize!

Today, however, I am back! And I decided to mix up my go-to pencil skirt look with the addition of a quilted sweatshirt top.  Tucking chunkier, textured sweaters and knits into sleek, fitted bottoms is a trend that has been popping up all over the place this season and so I figured I would give it a try.  It’s fun to give your workweek style a change-up, especially when it can be as easy as adding texture!  This look, while still pretty basic (and comfy) actually scored me quite a few compliments around the office!

Keep in mind that you have to be careful with materials that are too bulky, as they can make for an unflattering combo.  I found that thinner tops like this one from the Gap, pairs really well.  Keep the look dressy by adding a pair of sassy pumps and a statement necklace and you will easily take your basic office getup from typical to winter-chic.

Back to Basics.

Classic pieces that transition effortlessly from one season to the next season? Now that is my cup of tea.

I found this ultra femme indigo pleated dress at the Gap and instantly knew that it was a must-have.  Not only does it embody a flattering vintage-style fit and flare cut (which I LOVE), but it also serves as a forever-staple piece that has infinite styling possibilities.  Add a pair of thick printed tights with a beanie and this dress is easily carried over into winter or wear with some sandals and a wide-brimmed hat and this becomes your favorite summer go-to.

So, while you know I love to hop on board the latest trend just as fast as the next lady, sometimes it’s fun to simply stick to easy breezy basics.

 What do you guys think?

“Stick to the classics, and you can’t ever go wrong.  I see old ladies on the street who have fabulous style and realize it’s because they are probably wearing really classic items that they’ve had for years and years.  I think if you find something that suits you, you should just stick to it. – Alexa Chung

 My thoughts exactly!
