Girly Style, All Grown Up

For a spring look that’s ultra-femme, try working a swishy tulle midi skirt into your wardrobe.  Set aside for dance recitals and Carrie Bradshaw highlight reels, this grown-up tutu skirt is making a serious comeback this season and while it’s not the easiest number to pull off, I’m going to show you just what you need to make it work.

Because it’s already so girly,  try pairing  it with a more basic, textured top like this slouchy chambray Cloth & Stone button-up I found at Marshalls. For finishing touches, I’d stay away from delicate, floral or whimsical pieces.  You’ll notice I went with chunkier booties instead of pointy-toed flats and a bold statement necklace instead of dainty layering necklaces.  It creates contrast and allows you to achieve a more polished, adult feel.

That being said, with a piece this lovely,  it's impossible not to end up with a look that’s perfectly ladylike.

Light As A Feather

Shed those winter layers!

Warmer spring weather brings along fresh air, brighter days and light, breezy wardrobe pieces.  This long feather-printed maxi dress from Ruche is just that.  An updated take on classic daytime dress, this short-sleeved number is made unique with an open peekaboo back.  Pair with flats for an afternoon soiree or tall wedges for night on the town, either way it’s sure to flatter.  I have already been living in it the past couple of weeks. No matter the occasion-- drinks, casual Fridays, birthday parties, beach dates--I’ve found a way to make this dress work.  It’s a chic throw-on-and-go piece and with such a bold print, it really requires very simple jewelry.  I went with some delicates, gold rings and a cuff bracelet. Now the only thing I need is to find out how to get it in another color!

Friday I'm In Love

Today I’m pairing some of my new favorite fall pieces with a couple of my older fashion faithfuls, and I have to admit, I am in love with the combination.  I recently picked up these rich burgundy colored mid rise cut skinnies from Zara and not only do they fit great, allowing for day after day wear, but because this cut lops a few inches off the bottom of the typical skinny jean, it places a real emphasis on your footwear, allowing you to show off your latest fall booties and adorable heels.  As you’ve probably noticed, I can’t get enough of booties at the moment, but who can really?  These triple buckled beauties are actually from last season, but they are still very much in style and I found a similar, affordable pair for you to check out below.

In addition to the denim jeans that I have been living in, I have also been pairing this cropped denim Madewell tank with just about everything this week.  The lovely indigo color pairs perfectly with just about everything and the cut is both flattering and flirty, while also managing to be both classic and elegant.  I just love tops like this- the styling possibilities are infinite! Oh and the best part about it? It’s on sale right now!

I finished off the look with this cozy, bat-winged, black and white cardigan from Forever 21 and added a pop of extra color with my new lip stain from Sephora

So it’s safe to say, I’m never taking this outfit off.  They say “true love never dies”… right?
